ICC Adopts Facilities Expansion Master Plan - Green Developments Planned
International Code Council (ICC) recently announced a new facilities Master Plan and capital budget of $41 million,
which included's the development of new office buildings in the greater Birmingham, Alabama and Los Angeles, California
areas. Major renovations to the Chicago District Office, and expansion of warehouse capacity at their Distribution
Center in Lenexa, Kansas is also included.
In making this announcement, ICC Chief Operating Officer, Dominic Sims stated ICC plans to move out of its current
office in Birmingham into a new ICC-owned 50,000 to 60,000 sq .ft. building to be located in a yet to be determined
Birmingham growth area. ICC Los Angeles will get a new 50,000 to 60,000 sq .ft. building to replace
its current facilities in Whittier, California. The location for the new Los Angeles building is also yet to be determined.
These facilities will server to fill current ICC expansion needs, future expansion, and they will provided tenant opportunities
as well.
Reflecting ICC's commitment to green initiatives and enhancing its position as a green and sustainable leader in the building and
fire safety industry, our capital improvements will follow the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building
Rating System developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and will be patterned after the ICC headquarter offices in Washington, D.C.,
which are situated in a Silver LEED-Certified Building.
Rives Construction Company of Birmingham, Alabama has been hired to oversee delivery of all ICC expansion projects. Rives
Construction Company, Inc. is a modern, highly diversified commercial construction company, serving clients throughout America.
As ICC Program Manager, Rives' services will involve total management of all contracts associated with the ICC facilities expansion,
including property search and acquisition, sale od existing facilities, and design and construction of all future ICC facilities, nation-wide.
