INSTALLING 1997 U-CODE CD-ROMs

Before running the CD check first to see if you have a “temp” folder located on your “C:Drive”. If you do not have a “temp” folder you will need to create one as instructed below. The CD-ROM does not automatically startup. You browse for the CD and select the appropriate .exe file for your operating system on your computer as directed below and begin the process.

Windows 95/98/ME with single-user CD

Installation is straightforward, unless you happen to get an error message about "fultemp environment." Two things might have caused this:

A. You may not have restarted your system after you completed the installation, which is required. OR...
B. You will need to add FULTEMP to your environment. Do this by following these instructions
  1. Add "SET FULTEMP=C:\TEMP" to the first line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
  2. Make sure the C:\TEMP directory exists. If not, create it
  3. Restart your system
[The install program normally adds this line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, but it may fail if you don't have a C:\TEMP directory before you install the software]

If those two options fail, check to see if C:\WINDOWS is the default directory for your operating system. If not, reinstall the software and change the default directory to your operating system directory.

Windows NT/2000 with single-user CD

1. Use ntsetup.exe installation program
2. Change Installation Directory folder. Default is set to c:\windows. Change to c:\winnt
3. Check to see if you have a temp folder on your local drive (c:\temp). If you do not have this folder, create a new folder and name it temp. You can do this by opening My Computer, then the Local Disk (c:) and creating a new folder, naming it temp

To create the Fultemp variable:
1. Go to your control panel and open your system icon.
2. Click on the advanced tab.
3. Click on environment variables
4. Under user, click on new.
5. Type the following for the variable fultemp
6. Type the following for the variable value c:\temp
7. Click on ok to set the value and to exit out of the system properties.
8. Restart the computer

Windows XP with single-user CD

1. Use ntsetup.exe installation program
2. Leave the Installation Directory folder set to c:\windows.

6. Type the following for the variable value c:\temp
7. Click on ok to set the value and to exit out of the system properties.
8. Restart the computer

NOTE:
There is no Shortcut created on the desktop. You will find the program under the START menu, PROGRAMS, Program Name.

PROBLEM 1:
With my 1997 Uniform Code CD (using WorldView), the splash screen logo won't go away. How can I fix this?

The display problem is inherent to Windows XP. One fix is to minimize the application, then maximize it. The white box then disappears. Some people have had to do that more than once before it's "resolved." Unfortunately, you would have to do that everytime you run the application.

Another other option is to right-click on the shortcut then left-click on Properties. Click on the compatibility mode tab and change it to run as Windows 2000. We've tested it and it worked on XP SP1 and XP SP2.
